Women in mathematics

Postby Joseph Malkevitch » Wed Feb 14, 2018 1:33 pm

Dear Colleagues,

Women show talent in mathematics at all ages but stereotypes about who has mathematical talent and accomplishment continue to persist. There is no doubt in my mind that the "system" still makes it hard for girls to realize that mathematics might be a good career choice for them as well as provide them with the encouragement they need to become mathematicians. Wikipedia has a list of women in mathematics which shows the tremendous number of women with all different backgrounds who are making contributions of all kinds to mathematics and computer science.

I am sure there are still many people who could be added!
