Genetic and linguistic diversity

Postby Joseph Malkevitch » Fri Sep 22, 2017 12:44 pm

Dear Colleagues,

Mapping the DNA of different individuals and groups of people has provided rich and fascinating insights in human populations. Mathematical methods are often used in this work. However, in a general way, I think we need to be more cautious in drawing sweeping generalizations from what we know so far. New studies will hopefully be used to sharpen what we thought we knew from prior ones. This article about diversity among the people of Papua and New Guinea is quite intriguing.
