"Ethical behavior" of driverless cars

Postby Joseph Malkevitch » Wed Oct 18, 2017 10:44 am

Dear Colleagues,

When humans drive we are often faced with "ethical" decisions about what to do in an emergency. Do we take an action that will kill ourselves with probability .9 or a different action which will kill 100 people with probability .1?

This article address how the algorithms that operate a driverless car might be designed.
