Dear Colleagues,
Since the work of Kenneth Arrow and other pioneers, mathematical insights and models have been sought for issues related to fairness in different domains. This work is especially interesting to teachers. Mathematics is viewed as hard and dull by too many students but in my experience fairness models (and allied work in the theory of games) provides a wonderful entry point into why learning mathematics is both interesting and useful. Teachers take note!
The following article raises many interesting issues which can be pursed using mathematics though this point is not explicitly made. This essay involves ways that inequality is increased because wages that should be going to workers is channeled elsewhere  wage theft.
