Edge unfoldings of convex 3-dimensional polyhedra

has appeared in the most recent issue (Jan. 2018; pp. 25-27) of the Notices of the American Mathematical Society (I got my print copy but it still is not posted on the AMS web page).

While I think Geoffrey Shephard deserves to have this question named after him rather than Durer, there is no doubt that Durer did discuss the notion of nets for polyhedra, even if he did not explicitly pose the question of whether every 3-dimension convex polyhedron has a net which can be obtained by cutting along the edges of a spanning tree of the polyhedron. Very tantalizing question, still, with lots of variants to think about.
